Global Macro Economic Trading

Global Macro Economic Trading is the art of trading across asset classes and across the globe. Instead of pigeon holing yourself into only trading stocks or bonds, a global macro trader uses stocks, bonds, commodities, currencies, real estate, etc. across the globe. You can be long Brazilian stocks, short Czech stocks, and long aluminum.

The above examples might be a bit extreme but the basic idea holds. You want to be able to find the best risk reward opportunities on the globe and not just within one asset class.

Traders that have used this model have been some of the most successful traders in history. Jesse Livermore, George Soros, Bruce Kovner, Stanley Druckenmiller, Nick Roditi, and Paul Tudor Jones are all global macro traders and are arguably the most successful traders in history.
